Chanda Railway Scheme was the 1st incident that brought political awareness among the people of Telangana.

Chanda Railway Scheme agreement was signed between Salarjung-I, Diwan of Nizam and British Company by name Nizam’s Guaranteed State Railway Company in 1870 for constructon of Railway line between Hyderabad and Wadi.

The outlay of this project is 3 Lakh Pounds.

Due to discovery of coalmines in Singareni region, it was proposed to extend the railway line upto Dornakal-Yellendu and Vijayawada.

The details of the agreement were not revealed to the public.

A rumor was spread that Hyderabad State would face severe financial losses due to this scheme, which made the educated people to know the truth.

The movement against Chanda Railway Scheme took place in the year 1883.

Aghoranath Chatopadhyaya, Mulla Abdul Khayyum and Nizam Avusingh Vosthang led the movement against Chanda Railway Scheme.

Mir Mahabub Ali Khan was the Nizam during Chanda Railway Scheme.
