Hyderabad State was formed on 18th September,1948.
The State of Hyderabad continued till 1956, thereafter it was merged with Andhra State to become Andhra Pradesh.
To annex State of Hyderabad to the Indian Union, the Indian Armed Forces has conducted a military operation/ Police Action by name Operation Polo between 13-18, September, 1948.
At the time of Police Action, Mir Osman Ali Khan was the Nizam.
The time taken for completion of Police Action is 5 days.
At the time of Police Action,Major General Ei Edroos was the Military General of Nizam.
The Indian forces were led under the Generalship of J.N.Choudary.
The Government of India appointed General J.N.Choudary as the Military Governor of Hyderabad till 1st December 1949.
The Government of India appointed Sri M.K.Vellodi as the Chief Minister of Hyderabad on 26th January,1950.
